The Kent dump is actually called Bow Lake Recycling And Transfer Station. We made this complete guide for Kent so you can prepare for a successful trip to this transfer station and recycling center.

Use this Kent facility to dump yard waste, recycling or discard your solid waste all at once. All of the information you need including hours, location, and process for dumping at Bow Lake Transfer Station are below.

Bow Lake Transfer Station Hours & Contact

Remember that the Kent transfer station and the recycling center are open on different days and during different hours.

Residents outside of King County can use the hazardous waste drop-off services at the Factoria Recycling facility in Bellevue which is only 24 minutes away from Kent.

Kent City Dump Fees

The Transfer stations in King County all have similar fee structures per load. Recycled waste, solid waste, and yard waste are charged a fee based on load and vehicle type. Variable pricing also applies to toxic materials (if accepted at the location you visit).

Acceptable Payment Methods

The Kent Dump accepts the following payment methods:

  • Cash,
  • Charge (Visa, Master Card, or debit)
  • Checks – checks should be payable to “KCSWD”
  • Solid waste disposal cards (Skykomish only)

Self-haul customers who pay with cash are asked to pay for their waste collection with exact change while at the station.

The Kent Dump in King County allows you to dispose of a variety of garbage and recycling items at their facilities.

This means all recycling material (including cardboard), metal, clean wood, garbage waste, and commercial garbage are accepted if taken to the appropriate department. A full list of acceptable junk can be found on the dump’s webpage.

A general guide to what recyclables and junk you can dump can be seen below:

Note: Recycle Right! Be sure that all recyclables are clean, dry, and empty. Keep them loose do not include plastic bags, cardboard, scrap metal, yard waste, or wood that has been treated or painted.

  • Dirt and yard waste

Restricted Items

Customers need to be mindful of their loads. All recycling, toxic waste, and large items should be considered before loading. The dump may charge more or completely prohibit certain loads that contain questionable waste.

A brief summary of excluded materials can be seen below:

  • Asbestos
  • Automobiles, boats, RV’s Campers, etc.
  • Computers
  • Explosives (Ammunition, Fireworks, etc.)
  • Corrosives & toxic chemicals
  • Oils
  • Lamps
  • Antifreeze
  • Pesticides
  • Medical waste
If your pickup or vehicles with trailers are longer than 40 feet from bumper to bumper, you may be required to find an alternative dumpsite.

Other Special Waste Considerations

Always request prior written approval for asbestos, mattresses, sharps, and dead animals over 15lbs.
