Unloading Time Fees

The Tacoma transfer station also charges a fee if the unloading time takes a while. You get a free 30-minute window when using the facility. However, you’re required to pay an additional cost of $12.25 per every half hour increment you spend on site. All charges accumulated for the unloading time will be included in your bill. The facility is using an automated scale system to track the unloading time. The recording begins upon initial unloading and stops as soon as you finish the task on site.

Also, take note that any customer with insufficient funds needs to pay a disposal fee of $10 at the time of unloading. There’s an additional cost for vehicles unloading past closing time as well, which varies and needs to be assessed at the time being.

Who Can use the Tacoma Dump?

Ordinarily it just costs more for outside residents to use the transfer station, however Tacoma is not allowing non-residents in as of May 2020. Only Tacoma residents can use the transfer station for non-commercial use. You also need to have an active solid waste residential collection account with the city of Tacoma.

Bring your driver’s license or other document as proof that you are a Tacoma resident before you leave for the dump. This is because only residential customers with garbage and yard loads are allowed to use the facility. However, the commercial customers in the city of Tacoma with garbage loads are permitted as well.

The Tacoma Recovery & Transfer Center offers solid waste services for more than 58,500 residential and commercial customers in Tacoma.
